The Requirement
Develop and implement a fulfilment operation for Incomm Europe's launch of services in the UK specifically:
- the solution must be highly scalable to allow for rapid growth.
- provide the capability to build, dress and despatch completed display units.
- develop a solution to count and band cards in multiple quantities.
- work closely with Incomm's chosen merchandise field team - Instore
- pick single cards, banded packs and bulk cartons for both merchandiser and store despatch.
- source cost effective secure next day am delivery services to both merchandiser and store locations.
- provide full visibility of inventory and stock movements.
The Solution & Approach
As a new product to the UK market, with an unknown sales history, we felt it was imperative that the solution needed to grow with the development of the business. Starting with a
simple floor level picking operation the solution has now been developed into a integrated order processing and warehouse managed fulfilment operation with sales data driving the replenishment cycle.
The key milestones during the implementation were the:
- November 2006 - Sainsbury's first delivery of display units and stands. c450 stores.
- 2007 - Woolworths's, Asda and Shell implemented. c1000 stores
- 2008 - Esso and WH Smith implemented. c600 stores
- 2009 - SKU Logistics fulfils over 4m cards
- 2010 - Wilkinson implemented. c260 stores
New fulfilment picking environment implemented
Currently implementing Clintons, Dixons, Currys and PC World
- 2011 - Volumes expected to reach 8m cards.
The gift card market is now an established proposition in the UK and is rapidly growing momentum in Europe.
Incomm remains the leading innovator in this market and with our close working relationship, we are best placed to support them with their future expansion and growth strategies.
